First Line: “I need a beer, a shot, and a woman.” My Musings: Ink My Heart was a phenomenal companion novel to In the Band. Ink my Heart follows Luminescent Juliet’s lead singer, Justin. Justin is the bad boy partier who only needs booze and women in his life. However, when he stumbles into a tattoo parlor one day and meets tattooist Allie, everything changes. Suddenly, Justin can’t get Allie out of his mind. But Allie is complicated, and Justin finds that getting Allie won’t be as easy as it seems. “I’m not too deep. I don’t like deep. I sing. I party. I fuck. Occasionally, I study. In general, emotions pretty much suck. I try to stay away from them.” Justin and Allie are our mail characters as well as out narrators. I enjoyed the split points of view, as Allie and Justin had very different stories to tell. Justin was unique.
