Review: Avoiding Alpha by Aileen Erin

Check out my review of Becoming Alpha (Alpha Girl #1)  “‘How much attention do you pay to our bond?’ Holy shit. My mate was blushing. I wasn’t sure I’d ever seen him blush. ‘Please tell me you’re not going all creeper on me and looking in twenty-four-seven.’ ‘Creeper? Really? You’re my mate.’ I widened my eyes. ‘What would you call it?’ ‘Keeping watch. You do have a tendency to get yourself into crazy situations.’” I absolutely adored the first novel in this series, Becoming Alpha, so I had to see what happened next. This novel focused on the fact that Tessa’s best friend, Meredith, has become sick because her wolf is fighting the curse that the witches placed on her. And if Tessa can’t find a way to quiet her wolf, her best friend will die. This novel takes place over merely a day, but it seemed so much longer than that. Tessa does a lot of dangerous things in this novel to find help and with all of it going on I found myself frequently forgetting that it all happened in one day. Favorite Quote(s): “‘Don’t be so stubborn. When you feel lost or don’t get something, just come to me. I’ll always be there to help.’ That was sweet. ‘I can’t always lean on you. I have to figure this out for myself.’” “I couldn’t ever tell what was going on with him. He ignored me half the time, and the other half alternated between bossing me around and being so perfectly sweet.” “‘I’m going with ‘Closer’’ My face was intently hot as he laughed. Holy Freudian slip, Batman. Leave it to me to tell the hottest guy ever that one of my favorite song’s chorus was a guy yelling about how he wants to fu—‘do’ them like an animal.” Favorite Character: Dastien. Swoon. First Line: “The noise from the party raging downstairs seeped into my quiet space.” My Musings: Becoming Alpha was a very interesting read for me. I’m not the one to read too many werewolf books, but ths one just called out to me for some reason. I loved the concept of the gifted outsider girl who gets turned into a werewolf. I enjoyed the plot of this novel, which was centered around a private school for werewolves in the new town that Tessa and her family moves to. Regardless of warnings to stay away from him, Tessa can’t help but be drawn to the mysterious Dastien. So when things start […]
