Review: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Okay, to be honest, the reason I picked this novel up and actually read it was because my friends had read it and basically forced it upon me. I had been eyeing it, of course, because of all of the hype surrounding it. But I actually picked it up at the force of my friends’ hands. The plot of The Fault in Our Stars is a well known one: the two cancer patients, one terminal, one in remission. The love of all loves. The tears that accompany those who dare pick up and read such a sad book. So I’m not going to take the time to spell it out for you. The plot of the novel wasn’t the kicker with this novel. The point of this novel was the feels. The feels you feel when you read about these poor kids suffering from such illnesses. Favorite Quote(s): “There is ebb and flow. Leaving and coming. Flight and fall. Sing and silent. Reaching and reached.” Favorite Character: I really like Ky’s character. He was determined to get Cassia safe and live happily ever after. First Line: “Every morning, the sun comes up and turns the earth red, and I think: This could be the day when everything changes.” My Musings: I can honestly say that Reached was everything that I was expecting–and possibly more. I’m sad to see this series end; I cannot believe that I won’t be reading about Cassia, Ky, and Xander again. It saddening that their tale has finally come to an end. As always, Condie has exceeded my expectations. Reached had an amazing ending, which served as a great wrapping up of the series. There were so many unexpected, as well as expected endings, and loose ties present throughout the last two novels were successfully tied up. One thing that I enjoyed a lot was watching the characters grow over the course of the series. I loved watching them go against authority and stand up for what they believed was right. They managed to get past all the obstacles thrown their way, and still come out with a positive attitude and hope for the future. I found that really amazing. I loved Cassia and Ky’s love. It has always stood out to […]
