Review: Unhinged by A.G. Howard

Check out my review of Splintered (Splintered #1) I adored Splintered and couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one! Unhinged starts up a year after the events of Splintered, and Morpheus is back at haunting Alyssa’s dreams, encouraging her to come back to Wonderland and save their world from Red. However, Alyssa refuses, choosing her human blood over her netherling blood. So, Wonderland comes to her. Morpheus shows up as a foreign exchange student, while Red and another enemy find their way to Earth. Cue the action! This novel was not boring at all! Although not every section of the novel was fast paced, it was all interesting. We got to see more of Alyssa and Jeb living their human lives (with Alyssa trying to keep her netherling side a secret from him). We also get to see Morpheus on Earth! In addition to those things, we find out more about Alyssa’s mother, Alison, and her trip to Wonderland. And we learn quite a bit about Alyssa’s father as well. The ending was the pivot point of the novel. So much happened, and it left me gaping like a fish in shock. I’m going to warn you now, there is a cliffhanger of epic proportions—veering towards EVIL! Review: Splintered by A.G. Howard

Favorite Quote(s): “Tearing down the rest of the world won’t make you happy. Look inside yourself. Because finding who you were meant to be? What you were put into this world to do? That’s what fills the emptiness. It’s the only things that can.” “Raising one hand, he tilts his hat to that sexy slant. ‘You want me. Admit it.’ Even if he’s partly right, I’ll never tell him. ‘Why would I want you?’ He lifts three fingers to countdown. ‘Mysterious. Rebellious. Troubled. All those qualities women find irresistible.’ ‘Such an optimist.’ ‘My cup is never empty.’ ‘Too bad your brain is.’ The words bite, but my smile softens with affection.” Favorite Character: Morpheus. I am Team Morpheus all the way! First Line: “I’ve been collecting bugs since I was ten; it’s the only way I can stop their whispers.” My Musings: Splintered is a book that I’ve been eyeing for a bit now–ever since it came out, actually. But alas, I haven’t been able to read this book until now. What originally drew me in was the cover–I mean, it’s so beautiful and colorful! And then I found out it was a retelling of Alice in Wonderland–and you don’t see many of those around! Splintered follows Alyssa Gardner as she ventures into Wonderland to break a curse on her family that makes all of the females hear the voices of […]
