Review: Of Neptune by Anna Banks

Check out my review of Of Poseidon (The Syrena Legacy #1) Check out my review of Of Triton (The Syrena Legacy #2) “‘Emma, I will love you with every breath in my body and beyond my own death. I swear to be your shield, your protector, your worshipper. There is nothing I will deny you. I am yours.’” I loved the first two novels in this trilogy so I had to see the conclusion to Galen and Emma’s story. This novel picks up a little bit after the last one. Emma and Galen travel to the town of Neptune where they discover a town where Syrena and Half-Bloods live in harmony with humans and swim in freshwater. While Emma feels a part of the little town, Galen hates it. After an argument, Galen leaves to tell Grom about the city and is kidnapped. Meanwhile, Emma stays and begins getting closer to a Half-Blood, Reed, until they get themselves into trouble as well. I enjoyed this novel even better than the others. The characters really got themselves into some real predicaments. There was never a lack of anything happening. The point of view alternated between Emma’s first person and Galen’s third person so we got to see both events progressing at the same time. The thing I liked best about this novel was that there wasn’t just one evil villain—there were […]

Mini-Review: Of Triton by Anna Banks

Check out my review of Of Neptune (Syrena Legacy #1) Favorite Quote(s): “Galen and Grom exchange an amused look, and I can’t help but think they’re hypocrites. At any given moment, I could reduce Galen to a cooing mess, and I’m certain my mom would have the same effect on Grom.” “‘Extract yourself from Prince Galen, Emma,’ he says, ‘You two are not mated. This behavior is inappropriate for any Syrena, let alone a Royal.’” Favorite Character: Galen. I love him! First Line: “My eyes won’t open.” My Musings: It would appear as though the review I wrote of Of Triton has disappeared from my computer. So I guess I’ll do a mini review of it instead! Of Triton was another fabulous installment to the Of Poseidon series. This novel contained a lot of action—we see the gifts appear, there’s an overthrow, a trial, and of course Emma gets herself into some trouble! “For a second I fantasize about not being a Half-Breed whose mother is a long-lost mer-monarch and whose boyfriend has a fin or hairy legs, whichever the situation calls for, and whose whole life isn’t toppling like a stack of dishes in an earthquake.” Emma was hilarious as always. She definitely became more comfortable with her heritage in this novel. She was headstrong and didn’t let anyone try to protect her. She stood up for herself and others. […]

Review: Of Poseidon by Anna Banks

Favorite Quote(s):  “I lace my fingers together to keep from wringing my hands raw. Even more than terror, I feel the insanity of the situation. I’m about to ask a fish the size of my house to make a U-turn. Because Galen, the man-fish behind me, doesn’t speak humpback. ‘Uh, can you please back away from me?’ I say. I sound polite, like I’m asking him to buy some Girl Scout cookies.” Favorite Character: Emma. First Line:  “I smack into him as if shoved from behind.” My Musings: This is the second time that I’ve read this novel. I decided to re-read it when I got Of Triton from my library—it had been about a year since I had read it the first time, and I wanted to recap before diving into the next one. It was just as amazing as I remembered from the first time I read it—and I’m definitely glad that I decided to reread! Of Poseidon follows Emma and Galen as they struggle to find out what Emma is. Galen is a Syrena prince, which is the fancy name for a merman. That’s right. Galen sprouts a fin in the water. So Galen meets Emma on the beach in and can’t help but be drawn to her. So he follows her up to New Jersey and enrolls in her school. See the thing is, Galen thinks […]
