Mini-Review: Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott

“When I first saw the sand, I thought it was beautiful. Like maybe it’d be fun to just roll around in and make sand angels. Now I know the truth, that sand is actually the love child of proud parents Marie Antoinette and Joseph Stalin.” I absolutely adored Fire & Flood. I really enjoy Scott’s trilogy, The Dante Walker series, so I was very excited for this novel. This novel is a dystopian which is different from Scott’s paranormal series. The characters in this novel are in a Hunger Games-esque fight for The Cure. I really liked the plot of this novel and that the romance was a serious subplot. The events in this novel were thrilling and I was rooting for the main character. The pacing was fast and furious and I just really enjoyed watching the character’s journey in this novel. Tella was not what you would expect in a novel like this one. She wasn’t Katniss Everdeen—she wasn’t strong, tough, or kickass. She was a girly girl who liked girly things. The only reason she was part of this competition was to save her brother. She really grew over the course of the novel but not into a full-on warrior. I really liked that because it set her apart from every other dystopian heroine out there. Guy was mysterious. I really don’t know much about him except […]

Blog Tour: The Liberator by Victoria Scott

Welcome to my stop on The Liberator blog tour hosted by YA Bound Book Tours.  Click HERE to see the full blog tour schedule! Check out my review of The Collector (Dante Walker #1) Favorite Quote(s): “Music from the party throbs and echoes off the basement walls. I’m not sure how I got here, and I’m certain I don’t know how Charlie ended up on the other side of the room with Guy In Touch With His Emotions. Raising a bottle to my lips, I watch as the guy uncrosses his long legs and recrosses them. His tampon must be killing him.” “‘Want to stay here while you sober up?’ Charlie askes, taking my hand. ‘Girl, I told you, I’m–‘ ‘Stone cold soober.’ She rolls her eyes. ‘Right.’ I form my hands into guns and fire them off in her direction. ‘Smart girl.’ She  shakes her head. ‘Drunk boy.’” Favorite Character: Dante. First Line: “Real men don’t cross their legs.” My Musings: The Liberator is a book that I’ve been waiting and waiting for since the first one. When I was accepted for the blog tour, there was definitely some giggling and squealing going on. The Liberator follows Dante on his first assignment as a Liberator. I really enjoyed seeing Dante struggle to find his ‘good’ side, especially because he thought he was all demon. There was some nice digging deep and letting go. […]

Review: The Collector by Victoria Scott

Favorite Quote(s): “My eyes widen at the sight of her. This is the girl Boss Man is after? She looks like a porcelain doll…beat three times with an ugly stick.” “‘There’s the guy who trained me, you sexy son-of-a-bitch. I knew you could do this. I told the assistant,’ I said, ‘Do you even know who you’re dealing with here? Pfft. Pfft.’ ‘You definitely didn’t say that.’ ‘Nope. I sure as hell didn’t…’” Favorite Character: I loved Charlie. She was sweet and kind, and even though she wasn’t that pretty on the outside, she was on the inside, which is a valuable trait. First Line: “I’m in a slump, off my game, throwing up bricks, swinging and missing.” My Musings: Victoria Scott’s debut novel was everything I was hoping for and more. I enjoyed this novel immensely, especially the interesting narration voice of Dante Walker. This novel is a must read for those who enjoy your typical bad boy and a whole lot of action. Dante Walker is our narrator for this novel. His voice is very interesting. At first, it was hard to get into. That is, until I realized that this was your typical teenage boy talking. Scott did a fantastic job in capturing the essence of a typical boy. Dante’s voice was hilarious, arrogant, and just overall entertaining. For example: “At the end of the walkway is […]
