Mini-Review: Until Midnight by Melissa Landers

Check out my review of Alienated (Alienated #1) Until Midnight was a short story that bridges the time between Alienated, the first book in the Alienated series, and Invaded, book two. Aelyx and Cara have twenty-four hours until he is sent back to Earth and Cara travels on to L’eihr. To make that special night special, Aelyx sets up a Christmas celebration for Cara. Until Midnight was deliciously adorable. I loved seeing Aelyx and Cara together. It was extremely sweet to see Aelyx trying to recreate the Earth-holiday to make Cara happy. It was also just the right dose of them to tide me over until book two! I though it set a good stage to get Invaded off to a great start. It made me a lot more excited to see more of them, especially with the four chapter preview of Invaded. Until Midnight was a cute Christmasy read that was just nice enough touch for Aelyx and Cara that has me pining for book two. And the best part? This short is free! So pick it up while you can and enjoy the Christmasy cuteness. About Melissa Landers Melissa Landers is a former teacher who left the classroom to pursue other worlds. Review: Alienated by Melissa Landers

“‘How does he look at me?’ Tori raised a black brow. Then she made a circle with one hand and stuck her index finger through it in an X-rated puppet show. ‘Like he wants to dock his ship inside your spaceport.’” “He reached down and took her hand. His long fingers were stiff, but he laced them between hers and tightened his grip, fusing their palms together in a mesmerizing contrast of skin. Cara stared at their intertwined hands and went a little gooey inside. ‘You don’t have to do this,’ she said. ‘I know you hate it.’ ‘Quite the opposite.’ He smiled down at her. ‘Consoling you brings me comfort. Listening to you cry while I’m trapped on the other side of the wall is what I can’t stand.’” The premise of aliens kind of reminded me of Jennifer Armentrout’s Lux series. And i had heard wonderful things about it. This novel follows Cara Sweeny, one of the three students in the United States chosen to host students from an alien planet for a few months at her house. She thinks of it as a fantastic was to get a leap on becoming a journalist. But Aelyx, the exchange student from L’eihr, has other plans. The teens on his planet think that humans are pathetic, and they come up with a way to sabotage the alliance that the humans […]

Release Day Launch: Alienated by Melissa Landers

ALIENATED Launch & NOOK Giveaway! Hey, fiction lovers. I’m author Melissa Landers, and I’m thrilled to announce that my debut YA sci-fi romance, ALIENATED, is finally available from Disney-Hyperion! Cue the dancers and toss the confetti, because it’s been a long wait! In a nutshell, ALIENATED is the story of valedictorian Cara Sweeney, who gets more than she bargained for when she agrees to host the nation’s first intergalactic exchange student, the gorgeous but emotionally-stilted Aelyx (pronounced A-licks) from planet L’eihr. The tone is light and humorous, but I explore some deeper themes as well. What do reviewers have to say? “The storyline is out of this world and character development paired with authentic voice is superb. Filled with intrigue and suspense, this book will appeal to both sci-fi and contemporary YA fiction fans.” –VOYA “Interstellar relations heat up in this start to a new romantic science fiction series. Landers [explores] larger social, ecological, and ethical issues in this tense, fast-paced read.” –Booklist “The perfect blend of sizzling romance, action, and suspense.” –#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout “Smart, funny, and epic. I am now awaiting contact from planet L’eihr.” Julie Cross, bestselling author of Tempest. “Intergalactic exchange students? Yes, please! I fell in love with this story and couldn’t put it down.” Jodi Meadows, author of Incarnate. If you like hot, swoony science fiction as much […]
