Author: K.A. Tucker

Born in small-town Ontario, Kathleen published her first book at the age of six with the help of her elementary school librarian and a box of crayons. She is a voracious reader and the farthest thing from a genre-snob, loving everything from High Fantasy to Chick Lit. Kathleen currently resides in a quaint small town outside of Toronto with her husband, two beautiful girls, and an exhausting brood of four-legged creatures.

Mini-Review: Four Seconds to Lose by K.A. Tucker

Check out my review of Ten Tiny Breaths (Ten Tiny Breaths #1) Check out my review of One Tiny Lie (Ten Tiny Breaths #2) Four Seconds to Lose was another great installment to the Ten Tiny Breaths series. Four Seconds to Lose followed the illusive strip club owner, Caine. Charlie, a girl trying to escape her past, gets a job at Caine’s strip club in order to get money fast. Neither of them intended to catch feelings. Charlie was a strong female character. She was dealing with a ton of stuff. She was the type of character that I would want to get to know: strong-willed and good. Caine was a sweetheart. He was caring and protective, but he also had his bad-boy side that came as a result to his past. The two of them together were absolutely explosive. I loved both their sweet and sexy scenes alike. They had a real emotional connections. Moreover, the plot was heart pounding. Charlie brought with her a danger element to the plot, and as a result, this book was more high stakes than the other ones. There was a certain action element present here that was absent in the Cleary sisters’ stories. This aspect made for a very entertaining novel. Four Seconds to Lose was a great read: romance and action! About K.A. Tucker Born in small-town Ontario, Kathleen published her first book at […]

Review: One Tiny Lie by K.A. Tucker

Check out my review of Ten Tiny breaths (Ten Tiny Breaths #1) “Life has a funny way of creating it’s own tests. It throws curve balls that make you do and think and feel things that are in direct conflict with what you had planned and don’t allow you to operate in terms of black and white.” I enjoyed Tucker’s novel about Livie’s sister, Kacey, so I wanted to read Livie’s story. I am going to start by saying that Livie’s story is immensely different than Kacey’s partly because Livie’s coping mechanism was the complete opposite of Kacey’s. Regardless of this, there was still just as much emotional baggage as Ten Tiny Breaths. Livie’s story takes place, for the most part, at Princeton, which is where I’ll be going to school in the fall. Going into the novel, I had a feeling that the continuities between Princeton in real life and Princeton in this story would be nonexistent and that this story would be harder to read for me because it wasn’t accurate. Although there were mild distinctions, I was for the most part impressed with Tucker’s portrayal of Princeton. She put in the research to make sure that it was portrayed accurately. Moving on to the plot, I didn’t quite like the characters or their actions as much as I did in Ten Tiny Breaths. These characters had some […]

Review: Ten Tiny Breaths by K.A. Tucker

“‘Our past isn’t who we are. I’m me and you’re you and that’s who we need to be.’” I’ve actually had this one sitting on my kindle account for some time. My sister read it and loved it so I decided to finally give it a try! Kacey Cleary’s life is basically destroyed–four years ago a drunk driving accident killed her parents, boyfriend, best friend, and almost her. That was the day her life ended. The only thing she had to hold onto after her year in the hospital recovering was her little sister Livie. So when her Uncle appears to be close to sexually abusing Livie, Kacey takes her and flees to Miami. There, she meets Storm, who works at a strip club and takes her under her wing. She also meets her neighbor Trent, who seems to want to protect her. But both Kacey and Trent are hiding secrets–ones that can tear them apart forever. This novel was definitely interesting enough to keep my interest. There was a lot of emotional drama, especially from Kacey. It was nice to see how she dealt with it while also trying to give Livie a good life. The pacing was fantastic and there were definitely some things that I wasn’t expecting. And there was a total, mind-numbing shock as everything came to a head, something that total threw me into a […]

Review: In Her Wake by K.A. Tucker

Check out my review of Ten Tiny Breaths (Ten Tiny Breaths #1) Check out my review of One Tiny Lie (Ten Tiny Breaths #2) Check out my review of Four Seconds to Lose (Ten Tiny Breaths #3) I really enjoyed Trent and Kacey’s story and I was interested to see what went down with the accident that changed both of their lives. In Her Wake revolves around Cole Reynolds a bit before and after the car accident that took six people’s lives and set the stage for Ten Tiny Breaths. I felt that this novel gave a really good insight into who Cole was before the accident and how he dealt with the aftermath. We see more of characters that we met briefly in Ten Tiny Breaths and we see characters who aren’t in the following novel. This installment gave a closer glimpse at what led up to the events in Ten Tiny Breaths. Cole’s story was absolutely captivating. There wasn’t really one in this novel. It mainly revolved around Cole, even though we meet his girlfriend of the time and we see a little bit of Kacey Cleary, the main character in Ten Tiny Breaths. This novella really allowed me to sympathize with Cole. Reading the main novel, we don’t really hear his side of the story on what went down that fatal night. I can admit that I […]

Blog Tour: Anomaly by K.A. Tucker

Check out my review of Anathema (Casual Enchantment #1) Check out my review of Asylum (Casual Enchantment #2) Check out my review of Allegiance (Casual Enchantment #3) I have read and adored the previous novels in this series and I couldn’t wait to see how K.A. Tucker finished off the series. I’ve been waiting for this book for a while! This novel was definitely the most eventful and thrilling of the series. Everything in this novel comes down to a boil–the fight with the Fates, the fight with Viggo, and the fight against the sorceresses. There’s destruction, hard decisions, betrayals, lies, deceit, kidnapping–basically everything under the sun. But oddly, it wasn’t overwhelming. Usually, when an author smushes this much action into a single novel, it seems rushed and confusing–not such the case with this novel. Everything flowed, and for the most part, everything that happened was understandable. The only part that I wished I would have known more about was the part with the Fates. That, I’ll have to admit, could have been expanded on a bit more. Evangeline finally matures in this novel. Not that she was immature, it’s just that she grows out of her naive mindset. She finds out that not everyone is to be trusted, and that you can only depend on certain people to do you right. She also spends this novel adjusting to her […]

Cover Reveal: Four Seconds to Lose by K.A. Tucker

Owning a strip club isn’t the fantasy most guys expect it to be. With long hours, a staff with enough issues to keep a psych ward in business, and the police regularly on his case, twenty-nine year old Cain is starting to second guess his unspoken mission to save the women he employs. And then blond, brown-eyed Charlie Rourke walks through his door, and things get really complicated. Cain abides by a strict “no sleeping with the staff” rule. But being around Charlie challenges Cain’s self-control…and it’s been a long time since any woman has done that. Twenty-two-year old Charlie Rourke needs a lot of money, really fast, in order to vanish before it’s too late. Taking her clothes off for men makes her stomach curl but Charlie tells herself that at least she’s putting her acting and dancing skills to good use. And though her fellow dancers seem eager to nab their sexy, sophisticated, and genuinely caring boss, she’s not interested. After all, Charlie Rourke doesn’t really exist—and the girl pretending to be her doesn’t need to complicate her life with romance.  Unfortunately, Charlie soon discovers that developing feelings for Cain is inevitable, that those feelings may not be unrequited—but losing him when he finds out what she’s involved with will be more painful than any other sentence awaiting her. Review: Asylum by K.A. Tucker

Check out my review of Anathema (Casual Enchantment #1) Favorite Quote(s): “Our eyes locked. I saw Caden’s eyes. The stunning green eyes I remembered, the eyes I thought I had lost forever. In that one look, eyery ounce of doubt, every moment of fear, every horrific memory washed away.” Favorite Character: Caden again! First Line: “‘Forgive me,’ I whispered, knowing my words would never reach her ears.” My Musings: Asylum was a great new installment in the Casual Enchantment series. In this novel, we learn more about the vampires, the curse, and the fate of the Earth. This novel, like the previous one, was a great and easy read. The writing itself was descriptive and enabled me to live the story through the eyes of Evangeline. The plot never failed to be entertaining, and there were twists and turns that I was not personally expecting! In this novel, we’re introduced to some new characters, including Julian, and we learn more about characters that were not as prevelant in the previous novel. I enjoyed learning more background information to the whole ordeal, and it enabled me to more fully understand what was going on plot wise. In this novel, the plot continues to tangle and thicken, and it was enjoyable through and through. Something I enjoyed a lot within this novel was the continuation of world building. We learned more and more […]

Review: Anathema by K.A. Tucker

Favorite Quote(s): “Caden, kneeling beside me, gripped my face and gave me a peck on the lips. ‘I love you,’ he whispered.” Favorite Character: I really liked Caden. He seems super sweet! First Line: “‘Trust me,’ Sophie whispered. her delicate hands sliding up Nathan’s chest to slip behind his neck.” My Musings: Anathema was not what I was expecting. I am usually weary in trying out self published novels. However, this one was one of the best that I’ve read! The cover of the novel is interesting, and that is what drew me to the novel in the first place. Although I’m still somewhat confused as to the flower that the girl is in on the cover, it did not matter much to me. Anathema had an interesting plot line. Today, there isn’t much variation in writing in regard to vampires. However, Tucker managed to create a world where vampires are cursed, and earth is..special. I won’t say more, because I don’t want to spoil anything! However, the novel’s plot was great. It was full of adventure as we followed Evangeline on her trek through worlds. Evangeline was a cool character. She wasn’t remarkable, but she wasn’t horrible. She’s trying to do what’s best for everyone. Sophie was sweet. I think she’s misunderstood; she is lonely and she really has a maternal feeling for Evangeline. Caden was a great male […]

Blog Tour: Allegiance by K.A Tucker

Check out my review of Anathema (Casual Enchantment #1) Check out my review of Asylum (Casual Enchantment #2) Favorite Quote(s): “He leaned in that last inch to skim my neck with his bottom lip, hardly touching and yet sending shock waves through me, deep into my belly.” Favorite Character: Caden. He’s that tortured hero that you can’t help but fall in love with! First Line: “A spine chilling crack jerked Imogen’s attention to the center of the atrium.” My Musings: What a thrilling installment! Although I’ll admit that this series so far has not been the best I’ve read, it nonetheless enraptured me into the world of Evangeline. Like the previous two installments, this novel managed to keep me interested the whole time. Tucker’s writing was detailed and descriptive. The characters are well developed, and we get to know some of them better in this novel. Now that Evangeline has gotten the cursed pendant from around her neck–sans the instant death, all should be well for her and her vampire boyfriend, Caden. However, when is the life of Evie ever that simple? The magic that got the pendant off of her neck, of course, came at an unforeseen price–Evie now begins to morph into a creature that could very well be fatal to all whom she touches. The race against time now begins to cure Evie, Julian, and Veronique from this curse […]
