Blog Tour Review: Teaching Roman by Gennifer Albin

Check out my review of Catching Liam (Good Girls Don’t #1) Check out my review of Unwrapping Liam (Good Girls Don’t #1.5) I adored Jillian and Liam’s story in Catching Liam and was interested to see what Gennifer Albin came up with for Jessica’s story. For me, Teaching Roman wasn’t as strongly written of a novel. It seemed rushed at times and it was a bit unrealistic at points. Jess was part of a pretty recent break up after she refused to marry her boyfriend–and literally days later is lusting after her old professor? The timeline of the novel just didn’t feel realistic for me. In addition to that, things moved at a pretty rapid pace but were predictable. It was easy for me to figure out what was going to happen next, which took away from how much I enjoyed the novel. Jessica was a character that I could relate to in Catching Liam. In this novel it was like that at times, but at other moments in the novel it was like she was another person. She completely shed her good-girl personality at multiple points in the novel. The 180 in personality was startling at times and kind of messed with the flow of the novel. Instead of getting to know a character deeper in this novel I had to get to know a completely new character, it […]

Mini-Review: Unwrapping Liam by Gennifer Albin

Check out my review of Catching Liam (Good Girls Don’t #1) I absolutely adore Jillian and Liam. So, duh, I had to read their novella! Unwrapping Liam is a novella that covers the winter break that Jillian and Liam take with Jillian’s parents. My only complaint about this story was that it was too short–I wasn’t able to really get my Liam fix! Regardless of that, it really showed the situation with Jillian’s home-life and parents, specifically Jillian’s relationship with her mother. It was really enlightening to see how they interacted with each other, especially after the things that we learned in Catching Liam. Jillian and her mother are two sides of an opposite spectrum. It was definitely entertaining to see Jillian being snarky with her mother. We also saw Liam forming a bond with her father. This was like a behind the scene look at Jillian’s life. Liam was as fabulous as always. He stood up for her to her parents and didn’t let Jillian’s mother talk down on her. He was definitely the hero in this novella. It gave me a glimpse of my favorite Good Girls Don’t couple and I was sad to see it end. Unwrapping Liam was a great little story about Jillian and her family and where Liam fit in. I think it is a must read for all Catching Liam fans.

Favorite Quote(s): “‘What are you doing?’ I asked. ‘Are we getting all Fifty Shades up in here?’ He shushed me. ‘Nothing that dangerous. You won’t need a safe word.’” “I cut into the waffle and took a bite. Butter. Syrup. Vanilla. Despite myself, I moaned. ‘Somebody likes your waffles,’ Jess said, smirking at me. ‘I have a high proficiency in moan-inducing,’ Liam said without missing a beat.” Favorite Character: Liam! First Line: “Wednesday was boy catching night.” My Musings: My interest was first piqued when I saw the newly revealed cover for this novel. I love the cover—it’s simple yet efficient. And then I read the synopsis. And then I saw fantastic reviews. And then I saw that the leading male had an accent. I was sold. Catching Liam follows the life of Jillian Nichols. Jillian has a philosophy—catching and releasing boys. Jillian lives for one night stands. So when her latest conquest stays the next morning and makes her and her roommate breakfast, well, Jillian isn’t sure how to react. But Liam doesn’t give up. He eventually worms his way into her heart. But Jillian is convinced that they couldn’t work out long term—Liam’s student visa had a set expiration date, and Jillian is hiding a secret that she believes will change everything. When the cat jumps out of the bag, will they be able to push through? “‘I […]
