Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine! Each week, bloggers spotlight what upcoming release they’re eager for. Title: Cursed Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout Expected Publication: September 18, 2012 Dying sucks–and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows. Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things–including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden’s adopted father, a man she’s sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister’s hand again. And hell, she’d also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn’t? But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not’ve been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time. What are you waiting on this Wednesday?
Favorite Quote(s): “The stuff was like a nuclear time bomb in a bottle. Toss it and watch it go boom.” “He screamed for the first time in his life, really let lose like a pansy, but damn, the Arum got him.” Favorite Character: Dawson. His sarcasm and wit reminded me severely of Daemon. And he looks identical. Who wouldn’t love him? First Line: “A shadow glided over the frozen hills, moving too quick to likely be cast by something of this Earth.” My Musings: Jennifer has done it again. She managed to completely captivate me and insert me into the tale of Bethany and Dawson. It was a refreshing as well as informative read–It gave us more insight into the working of the Luxen world, showed us the past of the triplets and why Daemon is the way that he is, and gave us a great story all in one! This novel started right in the middle of the action: we;re introduced to the leading man, Dawson, as he struggles against an Arum. This type of beginning immediately captures your interest. It’s page turning from the beginning. Also, I love Jennifer’s writing style. All of her books are written in a way that is relatable. The characters talk , like modern day teens, think like modern day teens, and act like modern day teens. The sarcasm apparent throughout this novel was hilarious. Dawson’s character especially. I […]

Favorite Quote(s): “‘Tell me you’ll come back for the pack. For me.’ His eyes were bright with tears. ‘I don’t want to lose you.’” “Ren watched us as he leaned casually against the table, holding a pair of scissors. I’d never seen a classroom tool look so dangerous.” Favorite Character: Ren. His cocky and sarcastic exterior is very endearing, and his love for Calla is super sweet! First Line: “I’d always welcomed war, but in battle my passion rose unbidden.” My Musings: Wow. What a thrilling novel! I have to say, this was a very enjoyable read. We follow Calla Tor through her changing loyalties and perceptions about the ones that she’s been taught to believe all her life–the Keepers. It was the trinity of good books: amazing plot, strong heroine, and gorgeous (paranormal) guys! Cremer’s writing was addicting. I had to take a break about 300 pages in to do some long-waited summer work for school. Oh how I wish I had done it earlier so that I did not have to stop! But there wasn’t a moment over the week long hiatus that I didn’t think about what had happened in the novel– and what I would happen! This novel was a hardcore page turner. I zoomed through the descriptive writing that made you feel as if you were experiencing the events yourself. It was so easy to plunge myself […]
Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is Characters I’d Like To Switch Places With For 24 Hours. You may find that there is a certain theme to my picks…Let’s just say that i’m book boy crazy! 1. Meghan Chase (Iron Fey Series) Who wouldn’t want to switch places with Meghan and be romanced by the dark, brooding, Winter fey, Prince Ash? 2. Clary Fray (Mortal Instruments Series) Jace may be a cocky, sarcastic poo-head most of the time, but he’s just as equally caring and sweet (If your name is Clary, of course!) 3. Calla Tor (Nightshade Series) I would love to have two hot guys (excuse me, Gaurdians) fighting over me. But i’d have to settle for Ren. Sorry Shay! 4. Katy Swartz (Lux Series) Need I say anything? Maybe so, Two words: Daemon Black. 5. Aura Salvatore (Shine Series) Um…Zachary is Scottish. Which means an accent. Hello?! 6. Anna Oliphant (Anna and the French Kiss) There’s a few things with our dear Anna. First, she gets to spend her year in Paris! Who wouldn’t want that?! And of course, there’s St. Clair…who wouldn’t want there own St. Clair? 7. Alex Andros (Covenant Series) I’d love to have superpowers! I love Alex’s character, and of course, Seth and Aiden too! 8. Grace Brisbane (Wolves of Mercy Falls Series) I’m not exactly positive on why […]
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. This week I wasn’t able to start any books due to an unimaginable amount of summer work. So i’ll have to take you back to a book I read a few weeks ago. My apologies! “Then he prowled forward, head lowered and eyes full of intent. I backed up until my hands found the edge of the kitchen table. ‘What?’ I demanded. Placing his hands on either side of my hips, he bent forward. His breath was warm against my cheek and our eyes locked.” Obsidian, by Jennifer Armentrout
Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews to share what books you’ve bought, borrowed, received, or won. Borrowed: When Calla Tor wakes up in the lair of the Searchers, her sworn enemies, she’s certain her days are numbered. But then the Searchers make her an offer, one that gives her the chance to destroy her former masters and save the pack and the man she left behind. Is Ren worth the price of her freedom? And will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her own destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials true love can endure and still survive. Received: In a world constructed to absolute perfection, imperfection is difficult to understand—and impossible to hide. Elysia is a clone, created in a laboratory, born as a sixteen year old girl, an empty vessel with no life experience to draw from. She is a Beta, an experimental model of teenaged clone. She was replicated from another teenage girl, who had to die in order for Elysia to be created. Elysia’s purpose is to serve the inhabitants of Demesne, an island paradise for the wealthiest people on earth. Everything about Demesne is bioengineered for perfection. Even the air there induces a strange, euphoric high that only the island’s workers—soulless clones like Elysia—are immune to. […]
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine! Each week, bloggers spotlight what upcoming release they’re eager for. Title: Deity (Covenant series #3) Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout Expected Publication: November 6, 2012 “History is on repeat, and things didn’t go so well the last time. “ Alexandria isn’t sure she’s going to make it to her eighteenth birthday–to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner… and so is Aiden. If that’s not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time “training”–which really is just Seth’s code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time–she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome. But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed… and destroyed. Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate… What are you waiting on this Wednesday?
A weekly meme, hosted by The Unread Reader, in which we swoon over boys in books! This week’s book boyfriend is: Seth, the Apollyon from the Covenant series by Jennifer Armentrout “His hair was pulled back in a leather tie, but like always, shorter strands slipped free and curled around his chin. He had this golden complexion uniquely his own and a face perfectly pieced together, with those odd amber eyes holding an exotic curve. Sometimes I wondered if the gods had specially crafted those cheekbones and smug-looking lips, if they’d put the faint cleft in his chin and carved his jaw out of granite. No one else quite looked like him.”-Jennifer Armentrout, Pure Facts about Seth: The First Apollyon (basically a super powered Half-Blood) 19 years old Blond, longish, wavy hair Amber eyes Golden Tan skin From Greece, so he talks with a slight accent Slightly man whore-ish “Seth appeared on the verge of saying something ignorant, like always, but he became very, very still. I don’t even think he breathed. Slowly, I lifted my gaze and found what I expected. Swirling glyphs spread across the left side of his face. The intricate markings etched down his neck and disappeared under the hem of his black shirt, reappearing on his left arm and coming to stop over his hand. And Seth, well, Seth was no longer laughing. Those odd […]
