Blog Tour Review: Choosing You by Allie Everhart

“Over the tears, I’ve learned that people really don’t like the truth. The truth is ugly and painful. It’s uncomfortable. It makes you question things. It creates uncertainty. People don’t want that. They want to hear a version of the truth that meets the expectations they’ve already conjured up in their own head.” “‘Trusting is just a nicer word for stupid or naïve. And I’m neither one of those things.’” I’ve always had my eye on this novel, so when I got the blog tour invite, I couldn’t help but sign up! Choosing You follows a girl named Jade who has just been accepted to a prestigious university on a full scholarship provided by the Kensington family. But Jade believes that all of the students that attend will be the same—shallow jerks who will shun her for not being rich enough. So Jade instead decides to shun her. But Garret just so happens to walk past her on her move in day and helps her and her semi-brother, Ryan, move her in. After that, Garret is intrigued and starts trying to be Jade’s friend. And the more time they spend together, the more their feelings grow. But Jade starts getting threatening phone calls and Garret is hiding a secret from her, and these two things could be the end of whatever they have going on. This novel was one of […]

Release Day Launch Review: Business as Usual by Denise Grover Swank

Check out my review of After Math (Off the subject #1) Check out my review of Redesigned (Off the Subject #2) “‘What else?’ ‘It’s all business with you, isn’t it, curly?’ I take a sip to prove I’m following the rules. ‘I am a business major.’ ‘Well, business as usual then.’ She laughs.”  “‘You wear me out, Ben Masterson.’ He leans over me, propped on his elbow. ‘Consider me your personal trainer.’” I just had to sign up for the release day launch after reading the other two companion novels in this series. I’ve been waiting for Lexi’s story for a while! “‘You didn’t do anything wrong.’ I try to laugh, but it hurts my head. ‘I was stupid. Something very, very bad could have happened to me.’ And when I let myself think about what could have happened, I feel nauseated. ‘Thank you,’ I say and it seems too inadequate. Ben saved me from being raped, I’m positive of it. I’m not sure I could emotionally survive something like that again. I know Reed couldn’t.” Business as Usual follows Lexi Pendergraft as she deals with the psychological aftermath of her rape. It begins with Lexi breaking up with her boyfriend because she freaks out during sex. After then, Lexi decides that she is going to shun relationships for a while. But at a bar one night after a play […]

Blog Tour Review: Playing Pretend by Juliana Haygert

“Mason and I—we had something special, I knew this. He knew this. And he was pretty special. And kind. And attentive. And handsome. And hot.” “I squeezed his hand, then let go because one touch would become a caress, a caress would ignite the fire in me, and we would end up in bed. I really wanted to sleep with him again, but he wanted to be my boyfriend, not my boy toy. Truth be told, I liked this.” “I turned to Mason and bit my lower lip. His brows shot up. ‘Hmm, what’s with the naughty look?’ I took another step into the ocean. ‘I know!’ He offered me a smile of his own. ‘You’re a mermaid. That’s why you’re entering the water. Are you going to leave me now?’ I laughed, and then kicked the water and showered him. Mason gasped, pretending to be shocked. ‘Oh, you’re going down.’” Playing Pretend follows Governor’s daughter, Charlotte McClain as she spends her spring break in California without her mother knowing. Charlotte’s mother has her on a tight leash so that she doesn’t ruin her image. So in an act of rebellion, Charlotte journey’s to California with her real friends, telling her mother that she is in Canada with who her mother thinks is her ‘best friend’. While in California, Charlotte meets Mason, and they hit it off. But they have […]

Blog Tour: Anomaly by K.A. Tucker

Check out my review of Anathema (Casual Enchantment #1) Check out my review of Asylum (Casual Enchantment #2) Check out my review of Allegiance (Casual Enchantment #3) I have read and adored the previous novels in this series and I couldn’t wait to see how K.A. Tucker finished off the series. I’ve been waiting for this book for a while! This novel was definitely the most eventful and thrilling of the series. Everything in this novel comes down to a boil–the fight with the Fates, the fight with Viggo, and the fight against the sorceresses. There’s destruction, hard decisions, betrayals, lies, deceit, kidnapping–basically everything under the sun. But oddly, it wasn’t overwhelming. Usually, when an author smushes this much action into a single novel, it seems rushed and confusing–not such the case with this novel. Everything flowed, and for the most part, everything that happened was understandable. The only part that I wished I would have known more about was the part with the Fates. That, I’ll have to admit, could have been expanded on a bit more. Evangeline finally matures in this novel. Not that she was immature, it’s just that she grows out of her naive mindset. She finds out that not everyone is to be trusted, and that you can only depend on certain people to do you right. She also spends this novel adjusting to her […]

Blog Tour: In Bloom by Katie Delahanty (Embrace Tour)

Okay, honestly? I picked it up (before I saw the cover) when Inkslinger Pr sent it in a blog tour invite email and I read the synopsis. The promise of a rockstar romance was too much to pass up! I really enjoyed the events and the pacing of this novel. There wasn’t a dull moment. Something was always happening in Olivia’s whirlwind of a life, between getting swept up into the Hollywood life and falling for the major-rockstar Berkeley. And then, of course, drama comes with dating one of the biggest names in the music industry. There were so many unexpected happenings that went on in this novel that I wouldn’t have even thought to predict and that I definitely did NOT see coming. And that made the novel so much better. Sometimes contemporaries tend to be predictable, so when they break the mold and are not, it makes the novel that much more interesting. And that’s exactly what this novel was: intriguing. Olivia was in for a roller coaster ride of events and emotions, and the reader is right there with her. Olivia Bloom has just moved from Pittsburgh to Hollywood to start a new beginning for herself. So when her new apartment-mates, Parker and Blair, hatch a plan to make her the new ‘It’ girl, she just decides to go along for the ride. Until she meets the […]

Release Day Launch + Review: The Hazards of a One Night Stand by Alyssa Rose Ivy

Be sure to check it out! It’s only 99 pennies for the time being! Colt wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me closer. “No. I’d rather bother you.” There was something kind of sexy about the motion, something more confident than his usual goofy flirting. His hand felt nice resting on my hip, so I let it stay. Was this really the same Colt? Since when did his touch have that kind of effect on me? “When did you get back to town?” “About two hours ago.” “You didn’t wait long to come out.” I took a big sip of the drink. It was starting to taste a lot better. “I took time for a shower.” “That was thoughtful of you.” “Planning on getting close to me tonight?” He watched me intently. “Maybe.” The flirtatious word flew out of my mouth without me realizing it. The alcohol and that smile of his was making me forget where I was. “Sorry.” “Why are you sorry?” He moved his hand, turning me and wrapping his other arm around me so my body was pressed against his. “Colton…” “Mallory…” I laughed. “What are you doing?” “What am I doing? You’re the one telling me you might be getting close to me tonight.” His hand slid down slightly, settling below my hip. His touch felt so good. “Your birthday passed, right? You’re […]

Blog Tour: I See London by Chanel Cleeton

“It scared me that it was always like this with him, always a spectacular loss of control. It scared me that he pushed me out of my comfort zone and made me crave more than I should.” It’s set in London with guys with accents… I See London was definitely a good novel. It followed the main character, Maggie, as she starts on a new journey at an international school in London after being rejected from her dream school. In this novel, Maggie finds herself and finds love, and finds out that maybe some of the best things in life aren’t planned. The beginning was a bit slow and hard to get into, but it got better. The beginning was more information dropping than anything, which probably could have been accomplished in another way, but it’s the author’s debut so I wasn’t expecting perfection. Once it did get rolling, though, it rolled. The majority of the novel was captivating and interesting, and kept my attention in the book. Maggie was the main character of the novel. The thing I loved about Maggie was that she was easy for me to personally relate to. She was a smart girl who loved books, and that created a sort of camaraderie between her and me. Although she was a bit iffy with the guys, she really found herself in this novel. At first […]
