In this sequel to OF POSEIDON, Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half- Breeds should be put to death.

As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?
Here Are My Thoughts
Check out my review of Of Neptune (Syrena Legacy #1)
Favorite Quote(s):

“Galen and Grom exchange an amused look, and I can’t help but think they’re hypocrites. At any given moment, I could reduce Galen to a cooing mess, and I’m certain my mom would have the same effect on Grom.”

“‘Extract yourself from Prince Galen, Emma,’ he says, ‘You two are not mated. This behavior is inappropriate for any Syrena, let alone a Royal.’”

Favorite Character: Galen. I love him!
First Line:

“My eyes won’t open.”

My Musings: It would appear as though the review I wrote of Of Triton has disappeared from my computer. So I guess I’ll do a mini review of it instead!

Of Triton was another fabulous installment to the Of Poseidon series. This novel contained a lot of action—we see the gifts appear, there’s an overthrow, a trial, and of course Emma gets herself into some trouble!

“For a second I fantasize about not being a Half-Breed whose mother is a long-lost mer-monarch and whose boyfriend has a fin or hairy legs, whichever the situation calls for, and whose whole life isn’t toppling like a stack of dishes in an earthquake.”

Emma was hilarious as always. She definitely became more comfortable with her heritage in this novel. She was headstrong and didn’t let anyone try to protect her. She stood up for herself and others. Galen was as cute as always. He was more in his element in this novel. He still was adapting to life on land, though, as well as the changes that were happening under the surface. He really played the role of a prince in this novel.

In this novel, we see more of Grom and Emma’s mom. After some unfortunate events in the very beginning of the novel, the two of them are reunited. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last for long. However, it was nice to see the interaction between the two of them…Even though the relationships between Galen, Grom, Emma, and her mom were kind of weird when you looked at it.

In this novel, we meet a lot of new characters from under the surface. Some crazy things happen and not everyone survives. This novel made me feel all sorts of things: butterflies, nervousness, and sorrow, amongst others. The only thing that I disliked was that it was so short! Hopefully Of Neptune will be a longer installment.

Of Triton was a gripping addition to the Of Poseidon series, filled with drama, suspense, and courageous characters. It is definitely one that you don’t want to miss.

Anna Banks Author Photo

NYT Bestselling YA author of The Syrena Legacy series: OF POSEIDON (2012) OF TRITON (2013) OF NEPTUNE (2014). Repped by rockstar Lucy Carson of the Friedrich Agency. I live with my husband and daughter in the Florida Panhandle. I have a southern accent compared to New Yorkers, and I enjoy food cooked with real fat. I can’t walk in high heels, but I’m very good at holding still in them. If you put chocolate in front of me, you must not have wanted it in the first place.

  1. For some reason I didn’t love this one as much as the first book, but I still really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to see how it all ends though. Great review!
