Cassia’s journey began with an error, a momentary glitch in the otherwise perfect façade of the Society. After crossing canyons to break free, she waits, silk and paper smuggled against her skin, ready for the final chapter.
The wait is over.
One young woman has raged against those who threaten to keep away what matters most—family, love, choice. Her quiet revolution is about to explode into full-scale rebellion. With exquisite prose, the emotionally gripping conclusion to the internationalbestselling Matched trilogy returns Cassia, Ky, and Xander to the Society to save the one thing they have been denied for so long, the power to choose.
“There is ebb and flow. Leaving and coming. Flight and fall. Sing and silent. Reaching and reached.”
Favorite Character: I really like Ky’s character. He was determined to get Cassia safe and live happily ever after.
“Every morning, the sun comes up and turns the earth red, and I think: This could be the day when everything changes.”
My Musings: I can honestly say that Reached was everything that I was expecting–and possibly more. I’m sad to see this series end; I cannot believe that I won’t be reading about Cassia, Ky, and Xander again. It saddening that their tale has finally come to an end. As always, Condie has exceeded my expectations. Reached had an amazing ending, which served as a great wrapping up of the series. There were so many unexpected, as well as expected endings, and loose ties present throughout the last two novels were successfully tied up.
One thing that I enjoyed a lot was watching the characters grow over the course of the series. I loved watching them go against authority and stand up for what they believed was right. They managed to get past all the obstacles thrown their way, and still come out with a positive attitude and hope for the future. I found that really amazing.
I loved Cassia and Ky’s love. It has always stood out to me because it’s so innocent. It is nothing like the common young adult novel. Their love is sweeter and simpler; not at all focused on the passion and heat that so many young adult novels contain today. I also loved the love triangle in this series. I’ve always loved both Ky and Xander; this was not one of those love triangles that were a sure bet. Both boys had their pros and cons, and were just about equal swoon-wise in my opinion. However, I can say that I am beyond satisfied with how it turned out, and I’m glad that all the characters got their happy ending.
The only downer with this novel was that it was really slow paced at the beginning. However, this was common to the whole series, so it was expected. I knew that I had to keep on trucking to get to the good parts! Overall, Reached was a great story about fighting for whats right, becoming leaders, and giving the chance to choose; about reaching and being reached.
