"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "
Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

Favorite Quote(s):

“Aiden had slipped under my skin, wrapped himself around my heart and embedded himself into my bones.”

“That simple act stole my breath, my heart. But even as he pulled away, I realized that he couldn’t steal something he already had.”

Favorite Character: Alex again! She’s growing into herself and her role in being Apollyon, and I’m loving watching her do it!
First Line:

“Red silk clung to my hips, twisting into a tight bodice that accentuated my curves.”

My Musings: Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Words cannot describe Armentrout’s writing; if you’ve ever read any of her books, then you know. If you have not: shame on you. Go get one of her books right now. If any of you have only read the Lux series, go out and get the first novel of the Covenant series, Half Blood, right now. Armentrout has done it again. She has completely surpassed my expectations. this novel was thrilling, suspenseful, and heart jerking. Unexpected events and twists and turns in the plot kept me on my toes. It was a book that I did not want to put down. The writing was detailed and impeccable. The characters were inexplicable. Everything was just amazing.

In this third novel of the series, Alex is coming more into her Apollyon nature: that is, until she finds out that someone could have been lying to her the whole time. The novel’s ending and climax were unexpected– however, that made the novel that much more interesting. I wish I could rant about what happened, but I’d hate to spoil the novel for you!

What I absolutely loved about this novel was the unexpectedness. There was so much I wasn’t expecting. The romance and love triangle developments were also a favorite part of mine. We get to know each of the characters better, and intentions are finally revealed. Alex has to come into herself and figure out if she’s going to be forced into the fate she thinks she has to fill, or if she’ll rise up against her oppressors. This novel just took my day. Yes, day. It took only a day to speed through the 331 pages of this book. If you don’t believe me, go pick it up: IT COMES OUT TODAY! Thank you to Alexa from Alexa Loves Books for graciously gifting me this novel so that I could read its amazingness before it came out in stores. But I digress.

The last thing I wanted to go into more detail on was the love triangle. I mentioned that I loved it. In previous reviews of this series, you might see that I was Team Seth for a while. Let’s just say if you are, you might change your mind after this novel! Aiden really steps up the lovin’ this novel! It’s absolutely swoonworthy, and if you’re a stickler for romance, you’ve come to the right book!

This novel was action packed and suspenseful. The cliffhanger made me want to find the cliff and jump off of it to find the rest. It’s a book that you’ll never forget.
